Narrative Responsibility :

My Podcast

about “examining the meta-story of your life, how well it is serving you, and how to change it for the better.”

Narrative Responsibility is structured to provide quick, focused episodes on topics in personal development and healing. I hope to create a library of reference points for concepts, vocabulary, and perspective shifts that I can use with my clients and students AND offer to anyone who needs the information but hasn’t encountered it another way.

I have been podcasting off and on since 2011 – back when it was “What’s a podcast?” not “What’s your podcast?” – and knew at some point I wanted to add one to my professional work.

When I started brainstorming concepts, I wanted something that would allow me to talk about any aspect of personal growth rather than being bound to one system or framework, because my strengths as an educator and innovator in this field lie in my willingness to cross-pollinate ideas and approaches from different systems and ideologies. Taking the “meta perspective” that everything is a narrative, from emotional associations to specific clinical lenses of understanding, gives me that flexibility. So the podcast is basically a delineation of all the different ideas I have synthesized into my current understanding of how people work – and, presumably, updates to it as I encounter them and work to integrate new ideas and skills.

I do not believe that emotional healing and psychological health are luxuries; they should not be accessible only to the affluent. Not everyone has the money for therapy or coaching. Not everyone has the time to read and synthesize dozens of books or participate in continuing education courses. But twenty minutes a week? Most everyone can find that time.
